Grade 10 > Music Video
The "Rules" of Marking the timecode
Please note that these rules are based on observations of music videos from Youtube’s most watched list.
Each new lyric line gets a marker, therefore, each lyric line starts with a new clip.
Each lyrics line has markers within it, usually on an emphatic singing line or a strong beat
Don’t make sub markers too evenly spaced.
It shouldn’t look like a metronome.
The video content for each clip between the markers needs to be interesting
Use the Premiere Pro slip tool
When really good content does not fit between markers, you can go over the marked spot.
Allow it on occasion, but try to keep to the markers.
These rules may be broken.
Because music videos are so varied in their production, these are more like guidelines.
